Left-hand tie rod end designed for 1963-1982 Chevrolet and GMC trucks and cars. This replacement outer/inner tie rod end restores proper steering geometry, reduces play in the steering linkage, and improves vehicle tracking and safety. Constructed for durability and reliable performance under road conditions, it’s suitable for restoration projects or routine suspension maintenance. Fits models where the tie rod end location is dependent on vehicle configuration; confirm left-hand (driver or passenger side depending on steering orientation) before ordering.
Features:
  • Fits 1963-1982 Chevrolet and GMC vehicles — left-hand tie rod end (location depends on vehicle configuration).
  • Direct replacement for worn outer or inner tie rod ends to restore steering precision and eliminate play.
  • Durable construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
  • Helps prevent uneven tire wear and improves vehicle handling and alignment retention.
  • Designed for straightforward installation during steering or front-end suspension service and restorations.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands or vehicle lift
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Open-end wrenches
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Torque wrench
  • Pliers
  • Hammer (optional)
  • Measuring tape or caliper for pre-measurement
  • Grease (if fitting is greasable) and grease gun (if applicable)
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
  3. Measure the exposed length of the tie rod or count turns on the thread from a reference point so you can approximate the alignment when installing the new part.
  4. Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod (if applicable) and back it off several turns to free the outer tie rod end.
  5. Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or a pickle fork. Be careful not to damage the threads.
  6. Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner rod (or remove inner as required by your vehicle). Keep track of any spacers, washers, or orientation marks.
  7. Thread the new left-hand tie rod end onto the inner rod to the same measurement or number of turns recorded earlier. If replacing an inner unit, follow vehicle-specific removal/installation steps.
  8. Reattach the tie rod end stud to the steering knuckle and tighten the castle nut or nut to the manufacturer's torque specification. Install a new cotter pin if required.
  9. Tighten the jam nut (if used) to lock the assembly in place, and torque to specification.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
  11. Because thread-count or measurement methods are an approximation, take the vehicle to a qualified shop for a professional alignment immediately after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
  12. If the replacement part has a grease fitting, apply grease per recommendation and inspect periodically.
