- Durable metal construction with a sealed ball joint to resist contaminants and extend service life.
- Helps prevent uneven tire wear and improves steering responsiveness.
- Pre-greased/ready-to-install for faster assembly and easier restoration projects.
- Corrosion-resistant finish for long-term reliability in varied driving conditions.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and loosen the front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod end.
- Locate the outer right-hand tie rod end on the steering knuckle. Use a marker or paint pen to mark the position of the jam nut and threaded portion of the inner tie rod to preserve alignment settings.
- Loosen the jam nut securing the outer tie rod end to the inner tie rod, backing it off several turns.
- Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut (if equipped) or the securing nut on the tie rod end stud.
- Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Take care not to damage the knuckle or boot.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns counted during removal (or align to the marked position) and remove the old part.
- Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the marked position or the same number of turns as the original to approximate alignment.
- Insert the tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, install and tighten the castle nut or securing nut to the manufacturer's specified torque, and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Tighten the jam nut against the outer tie rod end to lock it in place.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure correct toe settings and prevent premature tire wear.
