Outer tie rod end for 1965-1967 Chevrolet Chevy II front steering. This precision-engineered replacement restores proper steering linkage articulation and wheel alignment, ensuring safe, predictable handling and even tire wear. Constructed with hardened steel and a sealed bearing/ball joint, it resists wear and contamination for long service life. The part replaces worn or damaged outer tie rod ends to eliminate play, wandering, and steering noise — an ideal component for restoration projects, maintenance, or performance rebuilds. Supplied ready to install with a grease fitting and corrosion-resistant finish for reliable operation and durability.
Features:
  • Fits 1965-1967 Chevrolet Chevy II (Nova) — outer tie rod end, right or left hand
  • Hardened steel stud and housing for long-lasting strength and precision
  • Sealed ball joint with grease fitting to reduce wear and keep out contaminants
  • Restores steering geometry, reduces play, and improves tire wear
  • Corrosion-resistant finish for reliability in restoration and maintenance projects
  • Direct replacement design for easy installation with OE-style fit
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Open-end wrench set
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Torque wrench
  • Grease gun (if applicable)
  • Marker or paint pen
  • Tape measure or alignment tools
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, chock rear wheels, loosen front lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise front of vehicle with jack and secure on jack stands; remove front wheel.
  3. Mark the current position of the outer tie rod on the threaded portion to preserve alignment; count turns while removing to match new part if needed.
  4. Loosen the jam nut on the inner/steering tie rod and back it off to allow removal of the outer tie rod.
  5. Remove cotter pin and loosen castle nut on the tie rod end stud; use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
  6. Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod assembly. Compare length/turn count to the new part and adjust as needed to match pre-marked position.
  7. Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the marked position, tighten the jam nut to specification, and insert the stud into the knuckle. Torque the castle nut to the manufacturer’s spec and secure with a new cotter pin.
  8. If supplied, grease the fitting with a grease gun until fresh grease appears at the seal.
  9. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, torque the lug nuts to spec, and perform a professional alignment to ensure proper toe and steering geometry.
