- Precision-machined threads and ball stud for smooth, low-play steering operation
- Corrosion-resistant finish extends service life in varied driving conditions
- Direct replacement for worn or damaged inner tie rod ends — ideal for restorations and routine maintenance
- Easy-to-install design works with original steering linkage and hardware
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, chock rear wheels, and loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise front of vehicle and secure on jack stands; remove the front left wheel.
- Locate the inner left tie rod end where the steering rack connects to the outer tie rod/steering linkage.
- Mark the position of the outer tie rod on the thread (count turns or note alignment) to preserve toe settings before disassembly.
- Loosen the jam/lock nut on the outer tie rod and separate the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod using a tie rod separator or pickle fork.
- Unscrew and remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod if necessary to gain access, then remove any retaining hardware securing the inner tie rod to the rack.
- Use appropriate tools to unthread and remove the inner left tie rod end from the steering rack — protect rack threads and steering components from damage.
- Install the new inner left tie rod end by threading it into the steering rack to approximately the same position as the original, using the marked reference or counted turns.
- Reassemble the outer tie rod onto the new inner tie rod, tighten the jam/lock nut to the specified torque, and secure any retaining hardware per factory specs.
- Reattach the steering linkage ball stud to the steering arm and torque to specification; install any cotter pins or clips if required.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Because toe alignment can be affected, have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering and tire wear.
