  • Precision ball stud and bushing surfaces reduce steering play and improve alignment.
  • Restores factory steering geometry to prevent vibration, wandering, and premature tire wear.
  • Direct replacement for restoration, maintenance, and performance reliability.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • jack and jack stands or vehicle lift
  • wheel chocks
  • torque wrench
  • ratchet and socket set
  • combination wrenches
  • pickle fork or ball joint separator
  • hammer
  • penetrating lubricant (if needed)
  • grease gun
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands; remove the front passenger-side wheel for access.
  3. Locate the idler arm on the frame steering linkage (passenger side) and inspect surrounding components for wear.
  4. Apply penetrating lubricant to mounting nuts and studs if rusted; remove the cotter pin (if present) from the idler arm stud.
  5. Use a socket/ratchet to remove the idler arm mounting nut(s) and separate the idler arm from the steering linkage; use a pickle fork or ball joint separator if needed to free the ball stud.
  6. Remove the mounting bolts that attach the idler arm bracket to the frame and take out the old idler arm.
  7. Position the new idler arm and hand-start the mounting bolts; tighten to manufacturer torque specifications using a torque wrench.
  8. Reconnect the idler arm ball stud to the steering linkage, secure the nut, and install a new cotter pin if required; torque to spec.
  9. Lower the vehicle, reinstall the wheel, and torque lug nuts to specification.
  10. Use a grease gun to fill the idler arm through the grease port until fresh grease is visible at the seal; check for proper movement and absence of binding.
  11. After installation, have the vehicle’s front-end alignment checked and adjusted as needed to ensure proper tire wear and steering performance.
