Reproduction idler arm designed to restore correct steering geometry and support the center link on 1964–1967 Buick, Chevrolet, and Oldsmobile passenger cars. This OEM-spec idler accepts a 7/8" diameter center link and provides a durable pivot point that reduces play, restores steering alignment, and improves road feel. Constructed to match original dimensions for direct fit replacement, it’s ideal for restoration projects or maintenance to eliminate wandering, uneven tire wear, and excessive steering lash.

  • penetraing oil

Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and block rear wheels.
  2. Raise front of vehicle and support safely with jack stands; remove front wheels if needed for access.
  3. Locate idler arm on the passenger side of the frame rail and apply penetrating oil to mounting bolts and stud nuts.
  4. Support the center link with a jack or second mechanic to prevent drop when removing idler arm.
  5. Remove nut(s) securing the idler arm to the center link; use a ball joint puller or pickle fork if the taper is seized.
  6. Unbolt the idler arm from the frame bracket and remove the old unit.
  7. Compare new idler arm to the old part to verify correct 7/8" center link fit and mounting orientation.
  8. Install new idler arm into frame bracket and loosely start mounting bolts.
  9. Reconnect idler arm stud to the center link and install nut; torque to vehicle factory specification.
  10. Tighten frame mounting bolts to specified torque and double-check all fasteners.
  11. Lower vehicle, install wheels if removed, and test drive at low speed to verify steering feel; have alignment checked and adjusted as needed.
