  • Lug wrench
  • Tie rod removal tool / pickle fork

Instructions:
  1. Secure vehicle on level ground, chock rear wheels, lift front end with jack and support on jack stands.
  2. Remove the front wheel to access the steering linkage.
  3. Mark the position of the outer tie rod relative to the steering arm or count turn-in turns on the tie rod for reference to preserve alignment.
  4. Loosen the jam nut on the outer tie rod and disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod removal tool or pickle fork.
  5. Unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod and set the outer assembly aside.
  6. Loosen and remove the inner tie rod end from the steering rack using the appropriate wrench or inner tie rod tool; retain any seals or washers if reusing.
  7. Install the new inner tie rod (right or left hand as required) by threading it into the steering rack to the original depth; hand-tighten then torque to manufacturer specifications.
  8. Reattach the outer tie rod to the new inner tie rod using the reference marks/counts to restore approximate alignment, then tighten the jam nut.
  9. Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and torque the nut to spec; ensure cotter pins are installed if applicable.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and perform a professional wheel alignment to finalize steering geometry.
