Adjusting sleeve (right and left hand) for 1963-1982 Chevrolet Corvette steering or suspension linkage. This precision-machined sleeve provides accurate thread engagement and secure adjustment for tie rods or other threaded linkage components. Designed to restore proper alignment range, reduce play, and maintain steering geometry, it delivers long-lasting corrosion resistance and reliable performance under road conditions. Ideal for restoration projects and replacement of worn or damaged sleeves, it helps ensure safe, predictable steering response and easier alignment tuning.
Features:
  • Fitment: 1963-1982 Chevrolet Corvette (both right- and left-hand applications).
  • Precision-machined sleeve designed for tie rod/steering linkage adjustment.
  • Durable metal construction resists wear and provides consistent thread engagement.
  • Restores correct adjustment range to eliminate play and assist wheel alignment.
  • Easy-to-install replacement for worn or damaged adjusting sleeves in restoration projects.
  • Helps reduce steering vibration and improves handling responsiveness.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Wrenches or adjustable wrench set
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork (if removing tie rod end)
  • Torque wrench
  • Penetrating oil
  • Measuring tape or alignment tools
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
  2. Loosen lug nuts slightly, raise the front of the car with a jack, and support with jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end and adjusting sleeve threads; allow time to soak if corroded.
  4. Mark the current position of the tie rod and sleeve with a marker or measure the length from a fixed point to preserve initial alignment settings.
  5. Loosen the locknut(s) on the adjusting sleeve and separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod end puller or pickle fork as needed.
  6. Unscrew and remove the old adjusting sleeve. Inspect mating threads on tie rod and inner assembly; clean or chase threads if necessary.
  7. Install the new adjusting sleeve (right or left hand as required) by threading it onto the inner/outer rod to the previously measured or marked position. Ensure correct hand orientation for the side being worked on.
  8. Reattach the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and snug the locknut against the sleeve. Torque fasteners to factory specifications.
  9. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
  10. Have a professional alignment performed (recommended) or verify toe settings with alignment tools and make fine adjustments as needed.
