Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen lug nuts slightly, raise the front of the car with a jack, and support with jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end and adjusting sleeve threads; allow time to soak if corroded.
- Mark the current position of the tie rod and sleeve with a marker or measure the length from a fixed point to preserve initial alignment settings.
- Loosen the locknut(s) on the adjusting sleeve and separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod end puller or pickle fork as needed.
- Unscrew and remove the old adjusting sleeve. Inspect mating threads on tie rod and inner assembly; clean or chase threads if necessary.
- Install the new adjusting sleeve (right or left hand as required) by threading it onto the inner/outer rod to the previously measured or marked position. Ensure correct hand orientation for the side being worked on.
- Reattach the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and snug the locknut against the sleeve. Torque fasteners to factory specifications.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
- Have a professional alignment performed (recommended) or verify toe settings with alignment tools and make fine adjustments as needed.
