Premium replacement outer right-hand and inner left-hand tie rod ends designed for 1953-1962 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles. These tie rod ends restore correct steering geometry and solid steering feel by replacing worn or damaged components that cause play, wander, or uneven tire wear. Manufactured to meet or exceed OE fit and function, they provide durable corrosion resistance and reliable performance for classic Corvette restoration and maintenance projects. Ideal for enthusiasts restoring drivability and safety while preserving original steering characteristics.
Features:
  • Fits 1953-1962 Chevrolet Corvette (outer right-hand & inner left-hand tie rod ends)
  • High-quality materials for long-lasting strength and corrosion resistance
  • Restores precise steering control and corrects play in the steering linkage
  • Designed for direct replacement—no modification required for most stock applications
  • Helps prevent uneven tire wear and improves road handling
  • Includes greaseable fittings (where applicable) for extended service life
  • Ideal for restoration, maintenance, or performance-oriented rebuilds
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes (per side, experienced mechanic may be faster)
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Open/box-end wrenches and sockets (common sizes)
  • Torque wrench
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Pliers
  • Hammer
  • Tape measure or alignment gauge
  • Grease gun (if greaseable)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the steering components.
  3. Locate the outer tie rod end and inner tie rod. Clean the area to remove dirt and corrosion for clear access.
  4. Loosen the jam nut securing the outer tie rod end to the inner tie rod but do not remove it yet—count the number of turns or measure distance from a reference point to help maintain alignment.
  5. Remove the cotter pin (if present) and loosen the castle nut or retaining nut on the outer tie rod end. Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
  6. Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod. If replacing the inner left-hand tie rod as well, remove the inner tie rod by loosening its retaining hardware and sliding it out of the steering rack or linkage per vehicle-specific service steps.
  7. Install the new inner and/or outer tie rod ends by threading them onto the mating rod to the previously noted turn count or measured distance to approximate alignment.
  8. Reattach the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle and tighten the castle nut or retaining nut to the manufacturer torque specification. Insert a new cotter pin if required.
  9. Tighten the jam nut against the tie rod end to lock the assembly in place. If grease fittings are present, apply chassis grease until the boot shows slight expansion.
  10. Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle. Torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
  11. Because tie rod replacement can affect alignment, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation to ensure proper toe settings and tire wear prevention.
