Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts, raise vehicle with jack and support securely on jack stands, then remove the front wheel.
- Locate the tie rod end connection at the steering knuckle and mark the position of the inner/outer thread on the tie rod to preserve alignment baseline.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod and back it off to allow removal of the outer tie rod end.
- Remove the cotter pin (if present) and unbolt the castellated nut from the tie rod end stud.
- Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod end puller or pickle fork. Be careful to avoid damaging the rubber boot on adjacent components.
- Unscrew the old outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod to the marked position; count turns if necessary to match original length.
- Screw on the new outer left-hand or inner right-hand tie rod end to the marked position and tighten the jam nut to secure (do not fully tighten jam nut until final alignment).
- Insert the new tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, tighten the nut to the specified torque, and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- If grease fittings are present, apply grease using a grease gun until boot is properly lubricated.
