Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level surface, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels. Loosen front lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Spray penetrating oil on ball joint fasteners and allow to soak. Remove cotter pin (if equipped) and loosen the castellated nut on the ball joint stud.
- Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or by striking the knuckle (use caution).
- Unbolt the lower control arm-to-frame fasteners as required to access and remove the old ball joint. Support the control arm to prevent sudden drop.
- Use a ball joint press to press out the old ball joint from the control arm. Clean the bore and inspect the control arm for damage or wear.
- Press the new ball joint into the control arm bore using the ball joint press. Ensure it is fully seated and oriented correctly for right or left side.
- Reinstall the control arm and torque all fasteners to factory specifications. Reattach the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle and tighten the nut to spec; install a new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque wheel lug nuts to spec. Perform a test drive and check for proper steering and suspension operation.
- Have a professional alignment performed after installation to ensure correct toe and camber settings and to prevent premature tire wear.
