Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, chock rear wheels, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise front of vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands, then remove the wheel.
- Locate the inner right-hand tie rod end and apply penetrating oil to mounting fasteners if needed.
- Loosen the jam nut securing the inner tie rod to the outer tie rod and mark or measure the threaded position to preserve alignment.
- Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle, then remove the outer tie rod end if needed to access the inner tie rod.
- Unscrew the inner tie rod from the steering rack or rack adapter using an appropriate inner tie rod tool or wrench.
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it onto the rack to the previously measured position, tighten to the manufacturer-specified torque.
- Reattach the outer tie rod to the inner tie rod and tighten the jam nut to secure the adjustment.
- Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and torque the nut to spec, install new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure proper toe setting and prevent uneven tire wear.
